Director of Design Strategy

Hayley Moro

Half of my work is in public service: courts, utilities, portals, and civic data. The other half is commercial, focusing on consumer launches, D2C retail, and B2B software.

Brands run into projects where the stakes run past a campaign, with work that touches health, money, identity, or people with little room to push back. Most teams will run that work the way they run a product launch. I built this practice to do the opposite.

Practice

My design practice runs the full arc of a project, from the first field interview to the interface build. Research, service blueprints, information architecture and brand systems each answer to the one before. What the field turns up sets the blueprint, and the blueprint decides what the architecture and the brand have to carry. A project that skips a stage builds the next one on a guess.

Experience

A decade in agencies and in-house strategy, starting in public portals and government services, and ending in Fortune 100 consumer work and large-scale nonprofits. With a master’s degree in design management from Georgetown, I scope and run engagements as carefully as I design them. UX and visual design were my route in, and I never stopped building.
